My how things have changed. Officials from Shanghai, China’s financial centre, will be visiting Chicago, New York and London to search for fund managers, analysts and other financial professionals who may have been laid off in the current financial crisis.
According to London’s The Guardian, there are more than 170 investment banking and other financial jobs available to foreigners as of mid-November. And with thousands of financial professionals on the loose in western markets, Shanghai firms hope to find specialists in risk management, asset management, product research and development, policy analysis and other areas to fill these open positions.
Among the Chinese firms looking to staff up are the China Financial Futures Exchange, Shanghai Stock Exchange, Shanghai Futures Exchange, as well as various securities agencies, insurance companies and banks. Anyone with a taste for adventure and international experience would be wise to visit official Chinese websites for more information.
